ICT Training @ Chanderi II
18 – 20 April 2007
On 18th April Narendra had a meeting with BVS officials to discuss the content for the website ( www.chanderi.in ). The history of chanderi fabric, specifications, current business, and other activities like yarn depot, dying centre, CMC, radio work and also initiatives of the women’s group was captured, collated and edited. We also took photographs of the various activities and collected images of the designs of the chanderi sarees to be put in the proposed site.
OneWorls South Asia took responsibility of designing and developing the site for BVS which could be handed over to the CMC volunteers for maintenance / input of content after proper training.
The second day was devoted to follow up practical trainings on basic applications like word, excel and power point.
Participants focused on Internet applications on third day. They refreshed their skills on using internet explorer and search engines. The group also followed up on using open enrich to publish web content.
Participants were also trained on booking railway tickets ( e-tickets ) through IRCTC web site. This particular activity was practiced a lot because CMC wants to start this service and charge the booking fee from the railway travelers who are to travel 40 Km to Lalitpur to book their train tickets otherwise. This activity has the potential of sustaining all the recurring cost associated with running of the CMC.
In follow up, it was decided to organize a raining of maintaining the BVS site once it is ready. Ravindra was confident of rolling out the railway booking service within a month time. Rest of the activity could follow as per plan after the training facilitated by NIFT.
